Scott County Records

The Special Collections Center has many Scott County records, including Probate records, County Board Minutes, Land Records, Birth, Marriage and Death records.

Most County Records are either arranged alphabetically, or have a running index at the front of each volume. There is often more than one volume of records on an individual roll of microfilm, so be sure to check the listing on the side or front of each box for the exact contents of each roll of film.

Please note: Birth and Death registration began in 1880 in Iowa, but general compliance did not occur until later. Also, between 1904 and 1906,and 1920 - 1941, birth and death records were not required to be recorded with the county.
