Hostetler Photos
The nearly 18,000 photographs in this collection were taken by the Hostetler Studio from about 1895 to about 1920. The majority of the images are portraits of local residents. The name index to this collection can be searched by clicking on the link below. When searching the index, remember that the name provided is not necessarily the name of the person in the photograph. The name used in the index is the name that appeared on the original negative envelope and in many instances appears to be the name of the person who paid for the photograph, not the actual subject of the photograph.

Upper Mississippi Valley Digital Image Archive
The Upper Mississippi Valley Digital Image Archive is an online visual collection of historic images showcasing the Mississippi River Region along the Iowa/Illinois border. This continually updated photograph collection includes images that date from the 1870’s to the 1950’s and cover a wide variety of topics. The archive currently archives photographs from the collections of the Davenport Public Library, Augustana College, Musser Public Library, the Putnam Museum, the Rock Island County Historical Society, and the Galesburg Public Library.
