Genealogy at your fingertips!
Tired of finally finding that one vital clue to your family’s history on Ancestry.com, only to be asked for your credit card number before you can see it? Don’t give up—the Davenport Public Library has taken care of the problem for you!
AncestryLibrary, our subscription version of Ancestry.com, may now be accessed by our patrons for free through every workstation at both the Main and Fairmount locations.
AncestryLibrary provides access to an amazing number of genealogy databases, including federal and selected state census, military documents, immigration records, land and probate files, and some newspaper archives.
To use our workstations, all you need is a barcode number issued by any Quad-City area library. If you are a visitor to our area, just show a photo ID at the Special Collections Desk or the Customer Service Desk, and we will give you a one-day Visitor’s Card.
Once you have logged onto a library workstation, there are only three easy steps to accessing AncestryLibrary:
1. Click on Internet Explorer to access our Public Menu.
2. Select "For Genealogists" from the left sidebar.
3. Select AncestryLibrary from the list of resources.
Please Note that there is a two-hour daily time limit on the library’s public access workstations.
